Lighten Up Onslow goes where you go with a site that adapts to any device (smartphone, laptop, tablet, or desktop)

Lighten Up Onslow helps you track your weight loss and number of steps. The team with the most accumulated percentage of weight loss and/or greatest average number of steps will win prizes.

Already registered for last year’s competition? Just begin weigh-ins and weekly steps again on Monday January 23, 2017 (You are still registered from last year)

Challenge yourself to join a team of four, lose weight, get active, and get healthier together. The challenge offers you two ways to win: lose the greatest percentage of weight loss and/or accumulate the greatest average number of steps. This gives you and your team the opportunity to win one or both categories.

After registering, log your current weight and number of steps every day or once a week. Lighten Up Onslow will keep track for you and you will see your progress throughout the challenge.

NOTE: You can enter your weight and number of steps every day. If you make a mistake entering your weight or number of steps, just enter them again. The system will only count the last entries made to calculate your progress.

To join: Find three family members, friends or co-workers, gather everyone’s name and email. Come up with a “fun” team name and register here at Lighten Up Onslow
NOTE: IF YOU ARE JOINING WITH FELLOW EMPLOEES, MAKE SURE WHEN YOU REGISTER YOU INSERT YOUR ORGANIZATION’S NAME IN THE “ORGANIZATION” FIELD

If you need to change teams or remove yourself from your current team, go to the Progress Tracker and follow the instructions to remove yourself from your team and how to join another team or to participate as an individual 
(To add yourself to an existing team, you will need the new TEAM ID. A team member of your new team can give you the TEAM ID.

If you are an individual participant who wants to join an existing team go to the Progress Tracker and follow instructions to add yourself to an existing team. You will need the new TEAM ID. A team member of your new team can give you the TEAM ID
Note: Only a team member can delete a team member and only a team member can access the TEAM ID

How to win? 

The Lighten Up Onslow team with the greatest percentage of weight-loss and/or accumulates the greatest average number of steps during the challenge will win prizes. In order to win, you will need to submit your weight and/or number of steps on the Progress Tracker every week using your email address that you used to register for the challenge. You need to submit your weight and/or steps at least once a month.

NOTE: You can enter your weight and number of steps every day. If you make a mistake entering your weight or number of steps, just enter them again. The system will only count the last entries made to calculate your progress.

Q: Now that I’ve completed my registration, what do I do next?

-We recommend setting team and individual weight-loss goals, or number of step goals.
-Decide what diet or eating plan (counting calories etc.) that you will use to make healthier eating choices.
-Review and choose from the diets listed on the Lighten Up Onslow Healthy Eating page.
-Determine what fitness activity you would like to do to help you become more active track your number of steps(speak to your doctor before beginning any exercise program).
-Check out all of the exercise tips and free exercise videos on the Lighten Up Onslow Exercise Page
-We suggest that you set up weekly meetings, recipe exchanges and exercise/walks with your team/teams.
-Make sure to check out all the great health events happening around town with Lighten Up Onslow’s Local Events
Most importantly, we recommend supporting each other. 

Team work is really important to success!

Q: If I competed in any of the previous Lighten Up Onslow challenges, do I need to sign up again for the 2017 challenge?

A: No, you don’t have to register again unless you are changing teams, but you will need to answer your profile survey again. If you were already registered you will be in the Lighten Up Onslow database, but you will be prompted to answer the survey again.

Q: What prizes can I win?

The team that loses the greatest percentage of weight and/or accumulates the greatest average number of steps will win! :

A: Prizes:

NEW - Weekly Winners! – Each Week a team that loses the greatest percentage of weight or accumulates the greatest average number of steps will win 1-month free membership to Gold’s Gym. (Weekly winners will alternate between weight loss and most steps)

Each team member of the team that loses the greatest percentage of weight and/or accumulates the greatest average number of steps for the competition has a chance to win one of the following prizes:

- One winning team will win The Impeccable Plate $15 gift card.
- One winning team will win their choice of a Second Wind Eco Tours, Yoga, & Spa 30 minute massage, or reflexology session, or a mini spa event with yoga. Or 4 kayak rentals or a paddle board rental for 2 hours.
- A $15 coupon for Rita’s Italian Ice for each member of a winning team
- One winning team will each win a Yeti Tumbler

The Lighten Up Onslow program gives you resources to be successful, but it’s up to you to make the commitment to lose weight, become more active, and lead a healthier life. 
Lighten Up Onslow provides healthy diet and meal plans as well as recipes, exercise videos and tips, along with “healthy happenings” around town.
