The 2018 Lighten Up Onslow Challenge Registration Begins January 2, 2018. The Challenge Begins January 22 and runs through June 1, 2018.

Lighten Up Onslow is a team-based challenge that has online tools to help you track your weight loss and number of weekly steps. The four-member team that accumulates the highest percentage of weight loss and/or greatest number of steps will win prizes. A team of four can win one or both categories.

Once you’re registered, Lighten Up Onslow will provide helpful emails filled with diet, and nutrition information, and free exercise videos and tips.

PRIZES

First Place Teams
- Top team (each team member) that loses the greatest percentage of weight will win a $50 Gift Certificate!
- Top team (each team member) that accumulates the greatest number of steps will win a $50 Gift Certificate!

Second and Third Place Teams
- One winning team (each team member) will win a Mandala Yoga Center reflexology session.
- One winning team (each team member) will win a Rita’s Italian Ice $15 gift card.
- One winning team (each team member) will win 4-Free Zumba Classes from Zumba Fitness

Already registered last year, and you want to remain on the same team? Just begin entering your initial weight and steps on Monday January 22, 2018 (You are still registered from last year) and every week until June 1, 2018.

New to the challenge? Begin entering your weight and number of steps every week until June 1, 2018. Lighten Up Onslow will track your progress throughout the challenge.

NOTE: You can enter your weight and number of steps every day. If you make a mistake entering your weight, just enter the correct weight again. The system will only count the last entries made to calculate your progress.

 

How to Register

To join a team: Find three family members, friends or co-workers, gather everyone’s name and email. Come up with a “fun” team name and register here at Lighten Up Onslow.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE JOINING WITH FELLOW EMPLOYEES, MAKE SURE WHEN YOU REGISTER YOU INSERT YOUR ORGANIZATION’S NAME IN THE “ORGANIZATION” FIELD. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE THE “DESIGNATED COORDINATOR” OF YOUR TEAM OR YOUR ORGANIZATION PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO MOREINFO@LIGHTENUPONSLOW.ORG AND CLICK HERE FOR A LETTER TO INVITE OTHERS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION TO JOIN THE CHALLENGE.

How to win?

The Lighten Up Onslow team with the greatest percentage of weight-loss and/or accumulates the greatest number of steps during the challenge will win prizes. To win, you will need to submit your weight and/or number of steps on the Progress Tracker every week using your email address that you used to register for the challenge. You need to submit your weight and/or steps at least once a month.

Q: Now that I’ve completed my registration, what do I do next?

-We recommend setting team and individual weight-loss goals, or number of daily step goals.
-Decide what diet or eating plan (counting calories etc.) that you will use to make healthier eating choices.
-Review and choose from the diets and meal plans listed on the Lighten Up Onslow Healthy Eating page.
-Determine what fitness activity will help you to become more active and help you track your steps (speak to your doctor before beginning any exercise program).
-Check out all of the exercise tips and free exercise videos on the Lighten Up Onslow Exercise Page and Lighten Up Pinterest Page.
-We suggest that you set up weekly meetings, recipe exchanges and exercise/walks with your team/teams.
-Make sure to check out all the great health events happening around town with Lighten Up Onslow’s Local Events
Most importantly, we recommend supporting each other.

Q: If I competed in any of the previous Lighten Up Onslow challenges, do I need to sign up again for the 2018 challenge?

A: No, you don’t have to register again unless you are changing teams, but you will need to answer your profile survey again. If you were already registered you will be in the Lighten Up Onslow database, but you will be prompted to answer the survey again.

Q: What prizes can I win?

The team that loses the greatest percentage of weight and/or accumulates the greatest number of steps will win!

The Lighten Up Onslow program gives you resources to be successful, but it’s up to you to make the commitment to lose weight, become more active, and lead a healthier life. 
Lighten Up Onslow provides healthy diet and meal plans as well as recipes, exercise videos and tips, along with “healthy happenings” around town.
